5 Day Egypt New Year Holidays: Royal Lotus Cruise

DAY 1 – Luxor Cruise Embarkation and East Bank Tour

The magic of our 5-day Egypt New Year Holidays begins from the minute you arrive at the airport or train station in Luxor, where one of our tour managers will be waiting for you. After introductions have been made, you will then immediately be taken to the port where you will be boarding the elegant 5-Star MS Royal Lotus Nile cruiser.

Once you board the ship, you will have some time to drop your bags of in your cabin, and then lunch will be served. After lunch you will disembark for a short excursion to Luxor’s East bank where you will be taken to see the old ruins of Karnak, an ancient city of temples. You will then enjoy a visit to the much better preserved Luxor Temple before returning to the ship and then you will have the rest of the day free to enjoy as you wish.

DAY 2 – West Bank Tour and Cruise to Edfu via Esna Lock

The 2nd day of our 5-day New Year Holidays kick today off with a good wholesome breakfast and then you will disembark and you will be going to visit one of Egypt’s mot valued ancient sites, the Valley of Kings. This is where Sir Howard Carter discovered the tomb of King Tutankhamen, complete with his mummy and a vast collection of treasures. However, more than 60 other tombs have also been unearthed at this site, including the tomb of Ramses VI.

After Valley of the Kings, your group will then go to see another unforgettable ancient wonder, the majestic Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Lastly, you will also be taken to see the Colossi of Memnon on your way back to the cruise ship. Once everyone is back on board it will then start cruising to Edfu, passing through Esna Lock along the way.

There are no other excursion scheduled for this day of your trip along the Nile, so once you have had your lunch you will be free to spend the afternoon as you wish. Sit down to a fine onboard dinner in the early evening and enjoy this night of your holiday on the water at Edfu.

DAY 3 – Cruise to Aswan with Edfu and Kom Ombo Excursions

After breakfast, everyone in your small group will disembark for a fascinating visit to the ancient Edfu Temple, also known as the Temple of Horus. This is the best preserved temple ever discover thanks to the fact that it was buried under the sand for more than 2,000 years. After visiting Edfu Temple, you will head back to the cruise liner and it will begin the journey to Kom Ombo, with another fine lunch being served at the usual time.

In the afternoon you will disembark again, and you will be taken to visit Kom Ombo Temple. This temple is actually composed of two identical temples that were dedicated to two different Gods. One was built to honor Horus the falcon God, while the other was built to honor Sobek the crocodile God. This is the only twin temple complex ever built by the ancient Egyptians.

Following your visit to this remarkable site, you will head back to the cruise ship and you will have the rest of the day to yourself as you sail slowly towards Aswan. Enjoy dinner and spend this night of your holiday on the water at Aswan.

DAY 4 – Aswan Half Day Tour and Leisure Time

During your holiday cruise, there is never a dull moment, so once you have finished breakfast you will enjoy a visit to the spectacular Aswan High Dam; a visit to the area’s ancient granite quarries to see the massive Unfinished Obelisk, and finally a visit to the remarkable Philae Temple.

Philae Temple is an extraordinary ancient relic with an extraordinary history dating back thousands of years. Be sure to ask your Expert guide about this astonishing attraction. After your visit to Philae, it will be time for everyone to enjoy another 5-Star lunch on board the ship, and then the rest of the afternoon will be yours to enjoy as you wish. There are no further excursions scheduled for this afternoon.

Dinner will be served at the usual time in the evening, and the last night of your holiday will be spent in the comfort of your cabin on the water in Aswan.

DAY 5 – Egypt New Year Holidays End

All good things eventually come to an end, and unfortunately, the same applies to your New Year cruise. Before you go though, first enjoy one last breakfast on board the MS Royal Lotus as you reminisce about all the wonderful things you have seen during your holiday on the Nile.

After breakfast it will be time for you to disembark, at which point you will once again be met by one of our tour managers, who will then escort you to the airport or to the railway station, depending on what your onward travel plans are. Your Nile cruise has come to an end, but when final goodbyes have been said, you will be leaving with memories that will never fade.
