Alexandria Day Trip from Cairo

On the morning of your Alexandria Day Tour from Cairo, one of our tour representatives will meet you at your hotel at the agreed time, and then you will be driven to Alexandria in a clean and modern air-conditioned vehicle.

On arrival at this very welcoming city, your first stop will be at Pompey’s Pillar which was constructed towards the end of the 4th century in honor of Emperor Diocletian.

From here, you will then be taken to see the ruins of the Temple of Serapis before continuing on to the area’s famous Roman Catacombs. This was the largest Roman cemetery in the region, spread out over three levels, all of which were carved out of the surrounding bedrock.

After spending some time at the catacombs, our tour representative will take you for lunch at a good local restaurant, and once you have finished your meal, you will move on to see one of the area’s most prominent attractions, the imposing Qaitbey Citadel which was build on the site of the ancient Alexandria Lighthouse which dated back to the time of the pharaohs.

The last stop of the day will be at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The original Alexandria Library was gutted by fire in the past, and was subsequently replaced with this spectacular and ultra-modern version. Even if you have no interest in books or libraries, this is definitely still an attraction well-worth visiting.

Following your visit to the library, your Alexandria Day Trip from Cairo will essentially be over, so you will then be driven back to Cairo, where you will be dropped off at your hotel.
