5-Day Oberoi Philae Cruise [Luxor to Aswan]

When you arrive in Luxor, one of our friendly tour managers will be standing by to give you a warm welcome and to assist you in any way they can. From there, you will be taken in a modern air-conditioned vehicle to a private docking area at Luxor Port where you will be boarding the magnificent Oberoi Philae luxury Nile cruiser at 12h00.

Once you have boarded and you have been shown to your luxury cabin or suite, you will get to enjoy your first outstanding onboard lunch.

After lunch, you will disembark for a short trip to Luxor’s East Bank where you will visit the ruins of the ancient Karnak Temple complex. This sprawling complex took more than 2000 years to complete. Next, you will visit the even more impressive Luxor Temple which is surprisingly well-preserved.

Finally, you will head back to the Oberoi for some leisure time. At 19h30, the crew will begin serving dinner. The Oberoi Philae has different menus for each day of your cruise, so you can look forward a great deal of culinary variety.

After dinner, the night is yours to enjoy as you wish. Relax in the bar; go for a massage; or sip on some refreshments out on the deck, under the stars, and then retire to the luxurious comfort of your cabin. Spend tonight sleeping blissfully aboard your luxury Nile cruiser on the quiet waters of the Nile in Luxor.

Today starts quite early with an excellent breakfast being served on board the Oberoi between 06h00 and 07h00.

Immediately after breakfast, you will be disembarking, this time for an unforgettable trip to Luxor’s historic West Bank. On arrival, you will first visit one of Egypt’s ultimate ancient attractions, the Valley of the Kings. More than 60 royal tombs have been discovered here, including the tombs of King Ramses VI and King Tutankhamen, both of which you will see during your visit.

Your next visit will be to the lesser known Temple of Medinet Habu, and then you will move on to Deir El Medina, an ancient site which once served as a village for all the craftsmen who were tasked with building and decorating the royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings.

Finally, as you make your way back to your luxury Nile cruiser, you will stop briefly to see another famous relic, this time the Colossi of Memnon.

At 12h30 lunche will be served on board, and the Oberoi will start cruising towards Esna, crossing the Esna Lock along the way. At 19h00 there will be a short cocktail reception, followed by another scrumptious dinner starting at 19h30.

Enjoy another relaxing evening onboard the Oberoi, and have a good night’s sleep on the water in Esna.

Today your cruiser liner will depart from Esna and head for Edfu for some fabulous sightseeing. Enjoy another wonderful breakfast in Oberoi Philae’s elegantly styled and decorated dining area from 07h00 to 08h00, and then disembark for a visit to the ancient world’s best-preserved temple, the Temple of Horus at Edfu, Horus was the famous falcon God. After you have had time to explore this amazing site, you will head back to the Oberoi Philae luxury Nile cruiser where you will enjoy a delicious lunch while you are cruising to Kom Ombo.

At 15h00 you will disembark in Kom Ombo for another fascinating excursion, this time to Kom Ombo Temple. This ancient temple is best described as being a twin temple, with one side built to honor Sobek, the God of fertility and creator of the world, and the other side built to honor Horus the falcon God.

After visiting and exploring this remarkable site, you will return to your cruise with ample time to spare before dinner is served, starting at 19h30. Spend the rest of the evening relaxing or enjoying the vessel’s outstanding amenities, and have another good night’s rest on the water at Kom Ombo.

Today you will set off from Kom Ombo at 06h00, and you will cruise to Aswan, enjoying a leisurely breakfast along the way from 07h00 to 10h00, at which point you will disembark for a visit to the Aswan High Dam and the amazing ancient Temple of Philae which had to be moved in its entirety to its present day location. Had it not been moved, this majestic relic from the ancient world would have been lost forever to the rising waters of Lake Nasser that resulted from the construction of the High Dam.

After visiting Philae Temple you will return to your Nile cruiser in time for lunch which the crew will begin serving at 12h30. After lunch, you will have some time to yourself, and then at 16h00 you will be taken to visit the Nubian Museum in a motor boat.

Enjoy another first class dinner back on the Oberoi Philae luxury Nile cruiser at 19h30, and then spend the rest of the evening doing as you wish, before finally retiring to your cabin for a good night’s sleep aboard your luxury Nile cruiser on the water in Aswan.

Wake up to another lovely breakfast onboard the Oberoi Philae luxury Nile cruiser. Since this is you last onboard breakfast, the crew will continue serving breakfast for three hours, from 07h00 to 10h00 so that everyone can enjoy a nice leisurely meal before they disembark.

After breakfast, it will be time for you to leave the ship, and you will once again be met by one of our tour managers who will assist you in any way they can, and then escort you in air-conditioned comfort to the airport, or to the railway station if you are planning to leave Aswan by train. After a final farewell, you and our tour manager will part ways.
