At the time which will have been confirmed with you, your guide will be waiting for you at the Safaga Port exit gate with a placard bearing your name. Once you and your guide meet up, you will then begin the drive to Luxor in one of our clean and modern deluxe air conditioned vehicles. On arrival in Luxor, you will first head to the east bank of the Nile River where you will visit the sprawling Karnak Temple complex. This huge complex was constructed over the course of more than 2,000 years, with numerous successive pharaohs adding additional structures to the original complex. Today it is recognized as being the biggest place of worship ever built by mankind. The site is perhaps most famous for its Hypostyle Hall which resembles a forest of gigantic columns.
After your visit to Karnak, you will be taken to a good local restaurant for some lunch, and then you will head over to the west bank of the Nile River to visit three more amazing ancient monuments. First you will visit two giant stone statues known as the Colossi of Memnon. These are statues of Amenhotep III once stood at the entrance of his mortuary temple. However, nothing remains of the original complex apart from these statues.
Next, you will visit the Valley of Kings, an ancient royal necropolis where more than 60 tombs have been discovered, including the tomb of King Tutankhamun. Finally, you will visit the absolutely breathtaking Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. This grand terraced temple is considered to be one of the “incomparable monuments” of ancient Egypt.
At approximately 6:00 in the evening you will begin the drive back to Safaga Port where you will be dropped off at the entrance gate. No trip to Egypt is complete without a visit to Luxor’s ancient monuments, so if your cruise ship is going to be docking at Safaga for a few days, then contact us today to book your own epic 12-hour Luxor trip from Safaga Port and enjoy an unforgettable journey through antiquity.
