DAY 1 – Pick Up from Alexandria Port and Pyramids Tour
On the day that your overnight trip to Cairo from Alexandria Port is due to commence, one of our tour representatives (your guide) will meet you at the port exit gate holding a placard with your name on it. Once you have met up with your guide you will then drive Cairo, a journey which takes approximately 3 hours. If you want to have a break along the way you can simply inform your guide and he or she will instruct your driver to stop.
On arrival in Cairo, you will head to the Giza Necropolis which is located on the outskirts of the city. This ancient necropolis is home to the three legendary pyramids which most people have seen pictures of. The necropolis is also home to the Great Sphinx which you will also visit during your tour of the site.
Visit the Great Pyramid of Pharaoh Khufu, the Pyramid of Pharaoh Khafre and the pyramid of Pharaoh Menkaura and also the Valley Temple which belonged to Pharaoh Khafre. Its primary purpose was to serve as a mortuary temple for the Pharaoh and his family members.
After visiting all three of the pyramids and the Valley Temple you will then make your way to the Great Sphinx. You will also have the option of getting from the pyramids to the Sphinx by way of a short camel ride, although this is not included in the price of our overnight trip to Cairo from Alexandria Port.
After your tour of the Giza necropolis, you will then be taken to a good local restaurant for some lunch before heading to the ancient Saqqara necropolis. This necropolis, which is only a short drive away from Cairo, is home to the very first pyramid ever built by the ancient Egyptians: the Great Step Pyramid of Pharaoh Djozer. The pyramid was constructed around 2630 BC, during the 3rd Dynasty period. Besides being the first Egyptian pyramid ever built, it is also the oldest major stone structure in the world.
Following your visit to the Step Pyramid, you will then drive back to Cairo where you will be checking in at a five-star hotel. This is included in the price of our overnight trip to Cairo from Alexandria Port.

DAY 2 – Salah Din Citadel and the Egyptian Museum
Enjoy a delicious breakfast at your hotel, and then at the time which will have been confirmed with you, your guide will meet you at your hotel. You will then check-out and you will head to the city’s famous Salah Din Citadel where you will visit the splendid Muhammad Ali Alabaster Mosque.
The Alabaster Mosque was designed by a renowned Turkish architect by the name of Yousif Boushnaq who traveled from Istanbul to Cairo to oversee the construction of the mosque. The mosque was built for Muhammad Ali who ruled Egypt for 45 years, from 1805 to 1849.
The mosque was to serve two purposes. It was to serve as a place of worship and also as a burial site for Muhammad Ali whose tomb is located in the eastern section of the mosque, in the same area that is dedicated to prayer.
Following your visit to the Citadel, you will then be taken to a good quality local restaurant for lunch. Enjoy your lunch at leisure and then you will visit the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in the heart of downtown Cairo. Also known as the Egyptian Museum, there are more than 100,000 artifacts on display, showcasing roughly 5,000 years of Egyptian history.
After your visit to the museum, you will then head to an area known as Islamic Cairo where you have a chance to explore the centuries-old Khan el Khalili Bazaar. This will be the last stop of your overnight trip to Cairo from Alexandria Port. However, a visit to this bazaar will depend on whether or not there is enough time left after your visit to the museum.
Finally, after a wonderful day of sightseeing, you will then begin the journey back to Alexandria. On arrival in Alexandria you will be driven directly to Alexandria Port where you will be dropped off at the entrance gate. Your tour to Cairo from Alexandria Port has now come to an end.
