10-Hour Sinai Tour Itinerary
Your 10-Hour Sinai Tour begins at around 05h00 when your guide and driver collect you from your hotel. Your comfort is of paramount importance to us, so your trip today will take place in a clean and modern air-conditioned jeep. There will also be free bottled water available for you in the vehicle.
Once you have been picked up from your hotel, you will then begin the drive to the Monastery of St. Catherine. Today, the monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Having been built between 548 and 565, it is one of the world’s oldest Christian monasteries that is still a working monastery. Although the monastery is named after St. Catherine, is has always been, and still is dedicated to the biblical prophets, Moses and Elias. According to Christian teachings, both Moses and Elias spoke to God on the mountain on which the monastery stands.
Christians believe that it was here that God gave Moses the tablet containing the 10 Commandments. It is also believed that this is where Moses saw the Burning Bush. In fact, you will see a bush at the monastery during your Sinai tour which is said to be the actual bush seen by Moses. St. Catherine’s Monastery has so much fascinating history, and your guide will be happy to tell you all about it.
After spending some time at the monastery, you will get back your jeep, and you will travel northwards for a distance of about 65 kilometers. This will bring you to a track that leads into the Colored Canyon, one of Sinai’s most striking geological wonders. The canyon’s sandstone walls average about 40 meters in height, and in some parts the canyon floor is less than one meter wide.
Due to a large presence of magnesium and iron oxides, the canyon walls boast a wonderful variety of shades, ranging from dark brown to red, to a light shade of yellow. Enjoy some time in the Colored Canyon, and then it will be time for the next part of your Sinai tour, a trip to the small coastal town of Dahab.
Dahab was once a tiny Bedouin fishing village, but today it has become one of Egypt’s premium diving and snorkeling areas. Enjoy a nice lunch at a good local restaurant, followed by a leisurely walk around in the town. Dahab is the last stop of 10-hour Sinai Tour package, so once you leave Dahab, your guide and driver will then transfer you back to your hotel in Sharm. Your Sinai Tour will then over, but lifelong memories will be guaranteed.
