Karnak Temple is essential the ruins of an ancient temple city that grew over a period of more than 2,000 years. Even though most of the city has been destroyed over the years, there is still so much to see. In fact, it is one of the most-visited attractions in Egypt.

After your tour ends, you will head back to your cruise ship; you will have some free time for relaxing, and then you will be served a first-class dinner in the evening. Tonight you will be sleeping in your cabin on the tranquil waters of the Nile at Luxor.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 4: Luxor Ancient Monuments Tour and Cruise to Esna

With our luxury 8-day Egypt Tour with Nile Cruise, there is never a dull moment, so once you have enjoyed another excellent breakfast, we will be heading out to explore some unbelievable sites on Luxor’s West Bank: Valley of the Kings; the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon.

Valley of the Kings, Luxor
Valley of the Kings, Luxor

Valley of the Kings is an ancient royal necropolis (burial ground) where royals and high ranking nobles were once laid to rest. It is also where the tomb of King Tutankhamen was discovered by Howard Carter in the 1920s. There are more than 60 tombs at this site, so there is a lot to see while you are here.

From here, you will enjoy a visit to the Mortuary Temple of Ramesses III at Medinet Habu. This is a vast site, with the temple alone measuring approximately 150 meters. Apart from it architecture and overall appeal, its walls, which are covered with inscriptions, provide an in-depth understanding of the rise and fall of Ancient Egypt’s Sea Peoples during the reign of King Ramesses III.

Your last stop of the day will be at the Colossi of Memnon, and then you will be taken back to your cruise ship in time for another good lunch.

After lunch, the vessel will depart from Luxor, and it will then sail to Esna via the Esna Lock.

Later in the day, everyone on board the vessel will be invited to enjoy a free cocktail party, and then shortly after that the crew will begin serving dinner. Enjoy a fine dinner and spend the fourth night of your Egypt Tour with Nile Cruise on the water at Esna.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 5: Cruise to Kom Ombo with Excursions at Edfu and Kom Ombo

Today your cruise will make an early departure from Esna, and you will be able to enjoy a nice leisurely breakfast on the water while sailing to Edfu.

When the vessel reaches Edfu, it will tie up, and you will disembark for a visit to the Edfu Temple of Horus which is astonishingly well-preserved due to the fact that it lay buried beneath the desert sand for more than 2,000 years after the Romans abandoned it.

After visiting this amazing temple, you will return to the ship, and it will then set sail for Kom Ombo where it will be docking for the night. Lunch will be served along the way, and on arrival, you will disembark, and then you will be taken to see another remarkable ancient temple, the Kom Ombo Temple of Sobek.

Interestingly, this temple is technically two identical temples that were built as one. The one was devoted to Sobek the crocodile god and creator of the world, while the other was devoted to Haroeis the falcon-headed god who was also known as Horus the Elder.

After a wonderful afternoon at this site, you will once again return to the ship, and then you will have some time to relax and unwind before another fine dinner is served up in the evening. Tonight you will be sleeping in your cabin on the water at Kom Ombo.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 6: Cruise to Aswan and Aswan Sightseeing Tour

Day 6 of your Egypt Tour with Nile Cruise begins with leisurely breakfast on the water while you are sailing to Aswan, and then when you arrive, you will disembark, and you will be taken to see the truly spectacular Philae Temple, which today sits on a new location, after having being moved in its entirety from lower ground. At one point in Egypt’s past, this temple was one of the most significant places of worship, so great effort was put into saving it from being destroyed forever by the rising waters of Lake Nasser after the Aswan High Dam was completed.
