When Is the Best Time To Travel To Egypt?
Egypt tour packages from Dubai can be booked and enjoyed throughout the year, but there are certain factors which are worthy of some consideration. For example, as is the case with all tour operators, tour packages almost always cost more during the high season. Hotels and cruise ship operators hike up their prices during the high season, so tour operators have no option but to pass as least some of the increase on to their clients.
In Egypt, the Low Season typically runs from the beginning of May, through to the end of September, while the High Season runs from the beginning of October to the end of April. It is also worth noting that in many cases, Egypt tour packages from Dubai and elsewhere also cost slightly more during the Easter period, as well as during the Christmas and New Year period.
For some people, travel dates are determined by things like school holidays and etc. For others, it is often the weather in Egypt that influences their decision. For instance, many Europeans find that the heat in Egypt can be a bit overpowering during the low season, so they opt for the cooler high season months instead.
Of course, if you have lived in Dubai all your life, or even if you have only lived there for a relatively short time, you will almost certainly already be accustomed to very warm weather. It is also worth noting that Egypt’s coastal areas typically enjoy very pleasant weather all year round. Naturally, if most of your Egypt vacation is going to be spent in the desert, then it would probably be best to visit during the high season when the weather is a bit cooler.
While many people would no doubt describe the high season as being more pleasant in terms of the weather, others will find that the low season can be equally as pleasant. At the end of the day, it all depends on what your own personal priorities are. As has been mentioned, if you are already accustomed to the weather in Dubai, then it is our belief that you should be able to enjoy our Egypt tour packages from Dubai any time of the year.
Egypt Tours from Dubai and Your Personal Safety
At Egypt Tours Plus, we cannot stress enough just how seriously we take the safety and wellbeing of our clients. Our tour managers, our guides, and even our drivers are all local people with an in-depth knowledge of all the areas featured in tour itineraries, and also an in-depth understanding of current affairs within the country. You can rest assured knowing that under no circumstances would we be willing to put any one of our clients in harm’s way.
It is also worth noting that at no one time will you be left on your own, other that when you are dropped off back at your hotel following a day’s sightseeing. As a general rule, you will be in the company of one of our Egyptologist tour guides and a driver at all times. The only exception is if your chosen Egypt guided tour includes a Nile River cruise. During your cruise excursions, you will instead be in the company of a small group, and your assigned tour guide.
Naturally, we cannot guarantee that a complete absence of crime or attempted crime. As is always the case in areas with a high number of tourists, both in Egypt and elsewhere, there is always a certain degree of risk that you may be targeted by petty criminals who would like to relieve you of your wallet or your handbag.
Pick-pockets and other petty criminals are always on the lookout for an unsuspecting tourist, no matter where about in the world you go, and Egypt is no exception. Fortunately, the chances of this happening to you are minimal because our tour representative, who will also be your guide, will have your back covered just in case. Nonetheless, we still feel that it is best to leave non-essential valuables at your hotel when you head out to see sites such as the Khan El Khalili Bazaar and etc.
Passport and Visa Requirements
Egypt tour packages from Dubai can be as easy as booking a tour and then boarding a flight to Egypt, but much depends on your current status in Dubai, and of course, your nationality.
Citizens of the UAE (Emiratis) don’t require any form of visa for Egypt, for stays of up to 90 days. However, you will need a valid passport which will remain valid for a period of no less than 6 months. For expats living in Dubai, requirements are somewhat different, and it is highly recommended that you ask your the tour consultant who is assigned to you after submitting a tour request with us or the Egyptian Consulate in Dubai in order to get clarification of any visa requirements that may apply to you.
The citizens of several countries can obtain a visa on arrival at any of Egypt’s major airports. These are tourist visas, and they allow you to remain in the country for a period not exceeding 30 days. Once again, at the time of your arrival in Egypt, your passport must still be good for no less than 6 months, and it must have clean pages for the visa and the various stamps.
The citizens of some countries are required to obtain a visa prior to arriving in Egypt, and failure to do so will see them being denied entry. If you are from a country whose nationals require such a visa, then you will require the following documentation:
- Passport – Original with at least 6 months validity and one copy.
- UAE residence visa – Original and copy.
- No Objection Letter – Original only, written on a company letter head, and signed by a person of authority, such as a manager for example.
- Trade license – Copy only. Take note that Company names must match those that appear on the residence visa.
- Bank statement or salary certificate – Bank statements must cover a period of at least three months, while salary certificates only need to cover one month.
- 2 Passport photos – 35mm x 45mm, with white background and glossy finish.
Once you are confident that you have all the required documentation, it will be time for you to visit the Egyptian Consulate in Dubai, but take note that once your visa has been issued, you will have to enter Egypt within a maximum of 3 months. In other words, visas are valid for three months as from the date you visa is issued.
Once you get to the Consulate, staff there will assess your application prior to accepting it. If your application is accepted, you will have to pay a fee of AED 140. This was the current amount at the time of writing this guide (November 2017). Once you have paid, you will be told when to come and collect your passport. This usually only takes 3 or 4 days, but take note that on the given date, you will have to collect your passport between 14h00 and 15h00. Passports are only returned during this time from Sundays to Thursdays.
As has been mentioned before, we strongly recommend that you contact the Egyptian Consulate in Dubai in order to get accurate clarification regarding your visa requirements unless you are an UAE citizen.
