3 Day Egypt Tour in Cairo
Cairo private tours are without question among our most popular 3 day Egypt tours, and not without good reason. After all, there are so many amazing things to see in Cairo and the surrounding area. Of course, the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx are, for many visitors, right up there at the top of the list, but they are just the tip of the iceberg.
The Egyptian Museum is another attraction which any visitor to Cairo really needs to see during their trip. This museum is home to the world’s largest collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts. More than 100,000 of these are on display, while the remaining artifacts are in storage due to a lack of space. Among the items on display, are all the relics and treasures that were recovered from the tomb of King Tutankhamen when it was discovered and opened in the early 20th century. All of these artifacts are on permanent display in what is called the Treasures Room.
The museum is also home to a Mummies Room where visitors can view real mummies that are on display in special environment-controlled displays. At the time of this article being written, work on the all-new Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza was nearing completion. This new museum is significantly bigger, so once it opens; there will be even more to see because lots of the ancient Egyptian artifacts which have been kept in storage at the old museum will also go on display.
Other fascinating attractions which often feature in 3 Day Egypt Tours are places such as the Cairo Citadel which is home to a number of amazing historical mosques as well as a number of museums. Cairo’s oldest and biggest bazaar, the Khan El Khalili Bazaar, is yet another not-to-be-missed attraction. This colorful, chaotic and frenetic bazaar has been around ever since the 14th century. Even though Cairo has several large malls, most everyday Egyptians living in Cairo still rely on the Khan El Khalili Bazaar for their daily requirements. In short, no Cairo tour is complete without a visit to this lively bazaar.
Travel and Tours beyond Cairo
If you book one of our 3 Day Egypt Tours that are centered on Cairo, you will almost certainly travel beyond Cairo as well to see some other incredible nearby sites, including Memphis the ancient capital of the Old Kingdom, and also Saqqara, an ancient royal necropolis. Saqqara is home to a number of pyramids but is best known for its Djoser Pyramid which is also known as the Step Pyramid due to its stepped design.
The Djoser Pyramid is not only the first pyramid ever built, but it is also one of the biggest, if not the biggest, although much of the complex was constructed below ground level. Many people don’t fully appreciate just how long the ancient Egyptians thrived for, so let’s add a bit of perspective:
When we stand before the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, we are looking at structures which, to us, are ancient. Well, for the people who were alive at the time those pyramids were being built, the Djoser Pyramid was, in their eyes, also ancient.
If you want to see even more pyramids, then we could always arrange a trip to the Dashur Pyramids which are also quite close to Cairo. These pyramids are all considerably older than those at Giza. If you have the time to spare, a visit to to this site is certainly worthwhile.
3 Day Private Trip in Luxor
Luxor is another part of Egypt which immensely popular among people who are interested in 3 day Egypt tours. This is hardly surprising when you consider just how many fascinating things there are to see in the immediate vicinity, and there are even more to see and explore if you are willing to travel a short distance beyond Luxor.
Since there are simply too many to mention, let’s just look at a few of the best Egyptian relics to look for when you are shopping for 3 day Egypt tours:
Valley of the Kings – This is an ancient royal necropolis where several pharaohs of the New Kingdom were laid to rest inside rock-cut tombs. Contrary to what many people believe, only a very small number of pharaohs where buried in pyramids. Most were laid to rest in tombs such as those which you can see in the Valley of the Kings which is situated on the West Bank near modern-day Luxor.
Although more than 60 tombs were discovered here, the most famous ones are the tomb of Pharaoh Ramses VI and the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamen which, surprisingly, was still sealed and intact when it was discovered. Travelers who are hoping to see inside the tomb of King Tutankhamun should try to be in Luxor the day before their tour is set to begin.
Only a limited number of tickets for this tomb are sold each day, and you really do need to get to the site very early in the day if you are hoping to purchase a ticket. Tour operators are not allowed to purchase tickets for his tomb ahead of time on behalf of their clients.
Temple of Queen Hatshepsut – The mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut is without question one of the most popular and most visited ancient Egyptian monuments in Egypt. This massive rock temple complex was constructed to serve as a mortuary temple for Ancient Egypt’s only female pharaoh, and it was constructed and decorated by the same workers and craftsmen who constructed and decorated the tombs in the Valley of the Kings. Hatshepsut Temple is considered to be one of the “Incomparable Monuments of Ancient Egypt.”
Karnak Temple – Although this site is often referred to as Karnak Temple, it was in fact what some people would call a temple city that grew over a period of more than 2,000 years. As it stands today, the complex covers an area of more than 5,000 square meters, making it the largest place of worship ever built. Although the site consists mostly of ruins, it is the second most visited monument in country, surpassed only by the Giza Pyramids.
There is a tremendous amount of stuff to see at Karnak, and having an experienced Expert tour guide with you is highly recommended. You are almost guaranteed to see Karnak in the itinerary of any 3 day Egypt tours that focus on Luxor.
These are only three incredible sites at Luxor, but there are a whole lot more, including Luxor Temple, the Colossi of Memnon, Valley of the Queens and Valley of the Nobles, for example. The bottom line is that you really cannot go wrong, regardless of which one of our 3 Day Egypt Tours you choose. Each and every one of them have been meticulously planned to ensure that they are as perfect as perfect can be.
