Passport and Visa Requirement for Indian Passport Holders

Holders of Indian passports have three options when it comes to obtaining a visa for Jordan. The first way is to apply for a Jordan visa at any Jordanian embassy or consular office in India. Up until quite recently, this was generally your only option, but a lot has change, and most who are familiar with current visa requirements, would agree that applying for your visa through an embassy in India, is something best avoided. Not only is it very inconvenient, but you may be forced to show a ton of documentation which is simply an unnecessary headache.

Your second option would be to book your Jordan tours from India through a Jordanian approved tour operator, in which case you will be issued with a “Collective Visa.” At the time of this post being written, these visas are free, but you have to be traveling as part of a tour group consisting of at least 5 people, and your tour must include spending at least 2 consecutive nights in the country.

Your third option, which is also you easiest and most convenient option, would be to apply for a Visa on Arrival when you arrive in Jordan. Indian passport holders were previously not able to do this, but that’s all changed now. A Visa on Arrival currently costs 40 JOD and is valid for 30 days. The only things you need to show when applying for this visa, is your passport with at least 6 months validity remaining, and usually your return flight ticket or proof of onward travel.

If you search around online, you will no doubt come across reports stating that you need to be able to show $1,000 in cash to immigration or else you will be sent back to India. While this might have been the case a few years ago, it certainly isn’t the case right now. Of course, immigration officials tend to have a lot of power, and many of them always seem to be miserable, so there is always some risk of an official trying to make your life difficult. For this reason, it is always a good thing if a local tour operator meets you at the airport, as is the case when you book Jordan tours from India through us. When you arrive in Jordan, our tour representative basically takes care of everything on your behalf.
