If you have browsed through some of our Egypt and Dubai tours, you may have noticed that virtually all of them include a photo-stop at the world-famous Atlantis Hotel which is located on Palm Jumeirah, the world’s largest man-made island. The design and strikingly beautiful appearance of the Atlantis Hotel makes it one of top tourist attractions in Dubai.

However, if you don’t only want to take a few photos, then why not enjoy a far more thrilling experience by spending a day at the hotel’s famous Aquaventure Waterpark.

The design of the Atlantis Hotel is themed after the mythical City of Atlantis, but with a perfect balance of Arabian features included. Aquaventure Waterpark has also been masterfully integrated into the overall City of Atlantis design. In fact, even the adrenalin inducing rides blend in perfectly with the hotel and its surrounds. Once you are in the water park, it really does feel as though you are in some sort of fantasy world.

No matter how old you are, the Aquaventure Waterpark allows you to relive your youth.

Aquaventure Waterpark – A General Overview

If you have already seen pictures of the Atlantis Hotel, you will already know that it is no ordinary hotel, and you can be certain that Aquaventure Waterpark is also no ordinary water park. Not only is it the largest water park in all of the Middle East and Europe, but it is also home to a number of record-breaking rides and attractions. Be warned, some of the rides at Aquaventure Waterpark are definitely not for the faint-hearted.

If you have nerves of steel and a cast iron stomach, be sure to try the Poseidon’s Revenge.

This ride sees you entering a futuristic looking pod, and then once you are inside and the see-through door has been shut, a trapdoor unexpectedly open beneath you without even the slightest bit warning. Once this door springs open, you find yourself plummeting a distance of 75 feet before your slide takes you speeding through a double loop. Going through a double loop in a roller coaster is one; going through this ride’s double loop is another thing altogether. It is though that this ride, along with one or two other attractions, is only open to children who are more than 1.2 meters tall.

If you are ready for more heart pounding fun, then you also won’t want to miss the Leap of Faith ride at the park’s Tower of Neptune. The ultra-steep incline of this slide will see you covering a distance of 90 feet in just one second as you speed down the slide to Shark Lagoon. Other extremely popular rides include the Aquaconda which is the longest waterslide in the world, and the Zoomerango.

Only a few of the most popular rides have been mentioned, but you can be sure that there are many more, including adrenalin inducing zip-wire rides that take you whizzing through the air above the park.

As one would expect from a park like this, there are also special pools and play areas for small children, just as there are rides and attractions for those who don’t have the nerves for the wilder rides. If you are looking for something which is not as crazy as the rides which have already been mentioned, then head for the Lazy River, or enjoy a ride at The Rapids and also at The Torrents. There really is so much you can do and enjoy at Aquaventure Waterpark.

There honestly is no denying the fact that this water park is one of the very best Dubai tourist attractions if you want to have fun in the sun while you are in Dubai.

So Much More Than Just a Water Park

Aquaventure Waterpark is the only water park in Dubai and the rest of the UAE that has its very own private beach. Strictly speaking, Aquaventure Beach is a pristine 700-meter stretch of beach that belongs to the Atlantis Hotel but your Aquaventure Waterpark ticket includes access to this beach area.

And, if you have had enough nail-biting rides and you don’t feel in the mood to visit the beach, then you will be pleased to know that there are a number of other indescribable attractions located close to where all the rides are located.

One very popular attraction at the park which requires a separate ticket is the Lost Chambers Aquarium. This huge aquarium also follows the City of Atlantis them, and when you are strolling around inside the venue, you would be forgiven for think that you are actually looking at uncovered parts of real long-lost City of Atlantis.

The amount of effort that has gone into recreating such a splendid scene is simply mind boggling, and that’s even before one starts to admire the more than 65,000 different marine animal species which live in the Lost Chambers Aquarium.

If you want to get up close and personal with some adorable marine animals, then we recommend purchasing a ticket for the Dolphin Bay attraction where you can actually enter the water to pet and interact with some incredibly friendly Bottlenose Dolphins. You can also head over to Shark Lagoon where you can enter the shallow waters in order to feed some amazing Cownose Rays.

On the other hand, if you want an even more thrilling adventure, you can go SCUBA diving and lose yourself among the 65,000 different marine animals. Alternatively, if SCUBA diving is not you forte, then you’ll be pleased to know you can don a special helmet which will enable you to stroll around among sharks, rays, and an abundance of colorful fish.

A Few Useful Points to Consider

At Aquaventure Waterpark, kids have to be shorter than 1.2 meters in order to qualify for Children’s Prices, and holders of these tickets are prohibited from going on certain rides due to safety concerns. Children who are 1.2 meters tall or taller have to pay full price, the same as any adult. All Adult Pass holders can enjoy all the various rides.

Next, a regular Aquaventure Waterpark ticket is valid for all rides, and it includes access to Aquaventure Beach. However, these tickets do not include admission for the “Marine Animal Experiences” such as Dolphin Bay; The Lost Chambers; SCUBA diving; Shark Safari, and the feeding of Cownose Rays at Shark Lagoon.

Important: Guests staying at the Atlantis Hotel can enjoy full access to the entire water park. They can also enjoy free access to all the various other attractions providing they purchase a ticket for at least one on the Marine Animal Attractions, such as Dolphin Bay for example.

Atlantis Hotel is not a cheap hotel, but if you are traveling to Dubai with your family, and especially if you have kids, then it may be a good idea to consider spending a night or two at the hotel in order to avoid all the fees you would otherwise spend at the park.

TIP: We strongly recommend visiting Aquaventure during the week because on weekends it can often become very busy, thereby resulting in long queues for the different rides.
